Joni Lamb, co-founder and president of Daystar Television Network, died May 7 at the age of 65, leaving a decades-long legacy in Christian broadcasting and ministry.
Daystar announced Lamb’s death after what the network described as serious health challenges that were compounded by a recent back injury. The network did not release a specific cause of death.
In a statement, Daystar’s board remembered Lamb’s love for the Lord and the people served by the ministry. The network said its mission and regular programming would continue under the leadership structure Lamb had helped establish.

Nearly four decades on Christian television
Lamb’s broadcasting journey began before Daystar’s formal launch. She and Marcus Lamb worked in Christian television in Alabama before moving to the Dallas area, where the ministry purchased the station that would become the foundation of Daystar.
As the network expanded, Lamb worked both on camera and behind the scenes. Her programming often brought ministers, musicians and public figures into conversations about faith, family and contemporary life.
A family and ministry in mourning
Lamb is survived by her husband, Doug Weiss; her children, Jonathan, Rachel and Rebecca; and several grandchildren. Family members, ministry leaders and viewers shared tributes following the announcement of her death.
For many viewers, Lamb’s influence was personal. Her television ministry became part of their daily faith lives, bringing prayer, teaching and Christian conversation into homes across generations.
